The Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP), will be holding a grappling tournament concentrating on Takedowns. This is open to every body who wants to join and watch.

Generally FILA wrestling rules will be followed:

The only difference is we concentrate more on the takedowns and there wont be a parterre segment.

The weight class will be :

60kg and below
61kg and above
Open weight

talked to coach karlo sevilla during our training at UP... he said na parang open mat event lang to, he was surprised to know that FILA rules are going to be used. anyway, he'll be there at the venue at 9AM.

I received a dozen or so text messages claiming that someone posted here that "a FILA Submission Wrestling Tournament will be held at WAP National Gym tomorrow."(they obviously misread the post, in fairness to magnox) I replied that as far as WAP is concerned, it's only gonna be a fun and informal open mat takedowns only challenge with the RP Team wrestlers and other participants (read: no medals, no tournament format, and kind of "bro, wanna try my takedowns? then let's go" kind of thing), every second Saturday of the month. It will help WAP find other training partners for our RP Team athletes (which we are critically lacking), and in turn help other grapplers and MMA athletes test and improve their takedown skills; a mutually beneficial affair, we believe. I've been inviting people myself. Anyway, after reading the post and subsequent comments, I would like to reiterate the invitation: everyone interested, please go tomorrow. If our coaching staff comes up with a tournament format, then so be it. I might ask for a discount on the P400.00 on site registrant fee. Kitakits and let's have fun.
