What happened to these guys?
Hello,
I just recently arrive in Manila and just planning to have a time off from work and training with my family. Ive been doing bjj for quite sometime. Started in the Philippines back in 2003, been training in N.Y. for 6 years.
We all noticed the advancement of bjj in the Philippines, I feel very proud and motivated everytime i hear a fellow filipino win in an international tournament. So i would just like to congratulate those people whose been training hard and contributing for the success of bjj in the Philippines.
Since i am an "old timer" i want to give props to Ali Sulit, Ralph go, Fritz Rodriguez, and the other old school guys whose been actively competing. But i'm just wondering, what happened to those other guys who did really really good in tournaments back then? I haven't heard their names for quite a long time.
I remember:
Aaron Lee - Im not sure but i think he never lost his matches back then.
Tj Sulit - I remember his intense matches in Lasalle greenhills
Dan Samson - This guy was the crowds favourite
Chester Dapo - Gets his opponents back all the time.
Alex Lim - Taps guys with a basic kimura
Ziggy Rocess - This kid does not stop moving, always active.
Akira Kitamura - I think he started competing at a very young age
Richard Dy - All i remember is he's good and quiet.
Lysander Co - I always see this guy win his matches back then
Stone Ang - Stroooooooooong
Allan Co - My favourite guard player
Raffy Garcia - Talented and very friendly guy

As an -- ehem -- old timer as well, here are some updates:
Aaron Lee - I was wondering what happened to him as well. Great guy, great businessman (haha, kidding Aaron)
Ziggy Roces - I see Ziggy (and his brother Mikey) almost every day, five days a week. Ziggy has taken a break from KMA BJJ, where he was indeed one heck of a fighter. He's concentrating on his striking now, and he displays the same balls-out intensity and skill level in his boxing game as his BJJ. Konting plugging lang: Ziggy owns and runs Elorde Gym Makati. Great, great, GREAT place to train. Prudential Life Building 841 Pasay Road, 4th floor. Its on the way to Don Bosco and Makati Cinema Square, right after Kink Cakes.
Stone Ang - This strong Mofo with the Mike Tyson voice (kidding, Stone) is in Canada, relocated, married, and with child. He's huge, too.
