Default Should the PSC subsidize the RP Team B athletes of the Olympic combative sports?

Among the Olympic combative sports, which Team A athletes have been entitled to government subsidy (and recently even deprived of...well, some of them), only those athletes of RP Boxing Team B receive subsidy from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). The RP Taekwondo Team B reportedly receive from the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) itself, which is undoubtedly one of the richest national sports associations (NSA's). The Team B athletes of judo and wrestling - add to that the other Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) recognized combative sports of muay, pencak silat, karate, and sanshou - don't receive PSC support. Therefore, our combat athletes don't enjoy the regular presence of a sparring partner-which is an imperative. Our athletes need sparring partners of their own weight class to ensure their development and avoid injuries, usually suffered by the lighter athlete when sparring against a much heavier partner. Yes, I earnestly pray that the new administration of the PSC will subsidize soonest all our Team b athletes (or sparring partners or training pool or whatever-we-may-want-to-call-them).

Bossing Karlo, that is an interesting question. If they are being used, they must receive compensation. Plain and simple.

I am not aware of the current levels or structures within these organizations but, i personally think that they should have classifications such as Active, Reserve, On-Training, etc. and receive allowances and/or budgets that is relative to their current standing. Also, incentives would be great so that there would be an increase of interested individuals which could benefit our pool of resources. For example, Team A would receive extra bonus as compared to Team B, primarily because they are Team A.

Kaya end of the day ay kawawa ang mga atleta.

The situation is actually worse. Since the start of this year, the RP team members, with the exception of a few NSA like boxing, did not received their monthly stipend. So most of these athletes went back to their home provinces without any practice or support from the government. The reason is that there is no budget which is crazy because every year, a National Budget is enacted. Need I say that we have an election this year? hmmm. interesting connection.

As I said before, dati na pinetisyon si Com.

Si Chairman Ritchie Garcia ay co-partner dati ng Wilson Sports at still have close ties with them.
