    Default What abt knifethrowing?

We are developing intuitive knifethrowing art in Russia (Moscow).
Are there any profile clubs in Philippines where we could have exchanged experience?

I believe the group of Atienza Kali includes projectiles in their program... but they are based in the east coast, US.
Of course, there are other FMA groups that have these methods too! I suggest this thread be moved in the 'Reality Based' Self Defense" Forum.

i get most of my throwing tips from this site

Knife Throwing Tips -- Throwing Knives, Articles, Games, Targets and Pictures

funny thing, i was asking a guro about knife throwing or projectile throwing and he said:

"we're in the philippines. knives are not cheap. why throw a good knife away?"

but he did show me a neat trick throwing nails. 6 inch nails, two rotations into a coconut tree roughly 3-4 feet away. the nasty one however has wicked underhand throw using an improv dirk. good for 6-8 feet.
    peace and love and happiness

Your guro is right. Nails are no worse.
The only difference: we throw them no-spin (no rotation) up to 3-4 meters from the sidearm position.
    And half-spin further.
Underhand is also good as it is easier to slow rotation from that position.
But power is much less: heavier tool needed.

i agree with that wholeheartedly. it's the philippines! there are rocks, lots of rocks. on the streets, there's lots of garbage to pick and throw. they can be used as distractions as well then go rush for a stab or a slash then run.

A sling is the best answer I think.

A friend from Sayoc Kali Philippines said "The knife is your advantage. Why would you throw your advantage away?" Here in the Philippines, I think most of us only get to carry one folding knife on our person and we cannot afford to throw it away.

But I'd be lying if I said I'm not interested to learn knife throwing. Please teach me.

you throw knives when (or before) the authorities arrive.... or for some folks i knew, after the "job" is done
should do it the right way, otherwise you get busted.
