"Mabenta" ang FMA since it's something new to them. A lot of them haven't seen it. Most of them haven't even heard the terms Arnis, Kali, Escrima, etc. And for sure, there are only a limited number of people who have experienced it. All they know is UFC, Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Judo, etc...
With that in mind, kasama ang pagiging patriotic filipino ko, I always promote FMA first above all else. They become aware that FMA has everything it needs to compete with every and all of martial arts. On my class, i adopt FMA techniques and FMA mentality on my lessons - so they experience it first hand. I make sure that I explained and show them very well the differences of approach, techniques, and mindsets so they would have a clear idea about what I am teaching them.
I have pretty ladies wanting more ardigma stuff. I have amateur boxers wanting more yaw-yan stuff. I have moms wanting to be more fit and are always present on my class. The uniqueness of FMA and the practicality of our art makes everything easier for them to comprehend. They learn fast. It's simple and effective. Hindi fancy. Hindi sila naiinip. Hindi sila nagsasawa. They keep coming back. In short, Mabenta!
In the philippines the story is different. gusto ng karamihan imported because the same logic i mentioned above applies - "bago, uso, galing sa malayo, kakaiba". kaya mabenta ang ibang martial arts sa pinas.
yung boy negro, ibang istorya yon, out of topic.
