    Default Band Rehearsal Studio

I got a good place for a band rehearsal studio.
I've already made a list for the equipments.
My budget is P50,000 to P100,000.
I'm not an expert so if you got some tips on brands and set-ups, please reply.

    Lead Guitar -
    Rhythm Guitar -
    Bass guitar -
    Keyboard -
    Drums -
    Amps -

I'll try to help you with my minimal band/musical experience

When it comes to studios, things you would really spend on are the speakers/amps, mixers(eto pinaka-importante for me), cables(para iwas sunog), soundproofing(iwas reklamo sa kapitbahay) at syempre yung drums. I have minimal experience with drums pero mas maganda siguro wag mo masyadong gastusan yung cymbals kasi usually nagdadala naman mga drummers niyan. As for mixers and speakers(kasama na cables), dito ka talaga gagastos but ofcourse, this is a bit biased coz I'm a guitarist and ayoko sa lahat yung sabog yung amp. Sa guitars naman, mas okay siguro yung cheap lang or second hand okay na. Kasi i-rrent mo lang naman yan and after one year for sure laspag na yan kaya wag mo masyadong gastusan. Very optional na siguro yung keyboard and as for soundproofing, pasensya na wala ako masyadong alam diyan pero may nakikita ako mga tray ng itlog gamit. haha

Hope this will help you and goodluck!

I used to have to rehearsal/demo-recording studio in Don Antonio Hgts, QC. I take pride that Sugarfree started out there together with Carol Affection. Parokya ni Edgar used to practice there before they started recording. I also take pride that fine musicians during those times hang out over there. If Blizzard (a forumer here) is still around, he was my mentor!

I have to warn you, building a nice rehearsal studio is not cheap.

    Studio set-up
First of all, I'm sure you need to deaden your room para hindi magagalit mga kapit bahay mo. This way, your bands don't have to max out your amp volumes too. The idea is to create multi-walls with spaces in between so that sound will get entrapped in-between them. The cheapest way is to use gypsum boards and I used three layers of them for my walls and ceiling. I placed foams in between the spaces. Favorably, you also need to have two doors with kind of a space before you get to the band room so that when somebody opens the door while somebody is playing, not all the sounds will escape out. I assume that you will still have your studio open at night.

    Equipment
Bands want good equipment so they can hear their best. You can't go cheap on this. I had the following:
2 sets - Marshall guitar amps 40W each. You can try Buy & Sell magazine and search for used ones para makatipid. Sayang pag brand new kasi bubugbugin lang. Be sure to choose that ones in good condition.
1 set - Hartke Bass amp, I forgot the wattage pero dapat malaki so that it won't get drowned by the loudness of the guitar amps. baka mahirap hanapin itong brand na ito diyan but it was worth it.
1 set - Drums, I forgot what brand I had, it was more than ten years ago, I think it was a vintage Pearl. I also had double pedals that they had to rent for an extra. I had the cheapes Zildjan cymbals line rom JB na naka stand-by in case a band does not bring their own. Sabi nila, ok lang na cheap generic set basta makapal ang kahoy. Pero dapat branded skins and hardware like cymbal and high hat stands.
I had 1 RJ guitar and 1 RJ bass guitar. They are cheap but good, a lot better than the Sta. Mesa ones. Bands usually bring their own guitars anyway.

    For vocals
I had a Peavey with about 1k+ wattage. The bigger the wattage, the better para hindi malunod sa lakas ng ibang instruments.
I had a small Mackie mixer with 4 channels. It was good but it would have been better if I had more channels.
For mics, the sandard is SM58 and you should have at least 3. You have to always check on them each time a band finishes kasi madaling ibulsa.
Mic stands, maraming mura sa Raon.

For all cables, get quality ones. Puwede ka bumili ng quality cables and plugs sa Audiophile. Dati, you can request to have them assembled for you too. Yung mumurahin na maninipis nagsa-static aside from having a short life.

If you want to have demo recording capability, that's another story.

Don't go cheap cheap on your equipment. Managing a rehearsal studio needs a whole lot of patience. You may want to consider equipment rentals too. The money is good.

PM me if you have more questions. Good luck!

katuwa naman.. meron din akong studio dati.. 2 studios.. 1 in paranaque before.. and 1 in paete..

the one in paranaque is located in gathalian before..

200 per hours plus 50 pesos if they use the cymbals

i have a low end e-guitar and bass, with a 2nd hand keyboard, a 24 channel mackie mixer amplified speaker (jbl eon for monitors) and pro el for house speakers..

i have a pearl drums (but it runs out of time for i used it before) and a set of zildjian cymbals.

i have sofa and lyrics stands on the studio sm58 shure mics, its not actually a recording studio but i can record their music if they want for extra charge.. its more of a rehearsal studio for newbies..

same set up dun sa paete studio ko.. minus the monitors lang..

btw.. im a sound engineer by profession and a musician too..

just want to share.. nasabi na yata lahat ni LBB eh.. heres a pic of mine on my former studio playing drums..

Astig! Did you get formal instructions to be one? Or, did you gain knowledge through experience?

Uy, madami palang nagbabanda dati dito! Man, I've been around the circuit too once or twice. When I was younger, my cousins and I formed a band. We'd play some Metallica, Guns n Roses and other grunge era bands. It was fun being a little kid and the frontman at the same time. I stopped for a few years then high school came, panahon ko yung mga pre-Linkin Park (blech) Nu Metal days. A friend of mine contacted me and wanted to form another band. We'd play some Incubus, Slipknot, (hed)p.e., even had a few songs of our own. But then, life caught up with me and it was either continue playing music or grow up. Sigh... those were the days.
