Sis in Ortigas Home Depot is a great ihaw-ihaw place.
Ey guys
So me and my friends started out this blog for a school project a year ago.
So far, its been a hit...but we need more entries...
So i was just wondering if you guys can recommend me more
places to review...
Best Places to Eat in the Philippines
Sis in Ortigas Home Depot is a great ihaw-ihaw place.
Grilled Tomato, Tomas Morato
Tomas Morato Ave.
Quezon City, Metro Manila
- PERSIAN food
- reasonable price. each meal ranges from 60 to 120 pesos
- they have beer and and home made yogurt
if you love persian food, then grilled tomato is the best place to go, located in Tomas Morato beside Kopi Roti. They serve Persian Favorites such as beef kebab, hummus, kormas, curry, tikka.
If you'd happen to swing by Cebu - Casa Verde!
Love their Baby Back Ribs. Big servings, quite sumptuous, grilled to perfection and so tender, it comes off the rib with a slight nudge.
Served with side veggies and mashed potatoes, it's priced at PhP180.
Since I've been here, there were only two branches I've been to - one in Ayala Mall Cebu and the other one, near Cebu Velez hospital. I highly recommend it.
Hope you guys don't mind some recommendations outside of Metro Manila:
Laoag, Illocos Norte - Red 8 Asian Restaurant
It's located within Fort Ilocandia, which is now owned by a Hong Kong business group. They brought in chefs from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shanghai and Seoul. The food is sensational. The best "Chinese" (and Korean) food I've had in the Philippines, second only to the Chinese food in Vancouver. The service can be slow though. The prices are like Makati prices, not Makati 5 star hotel restaurant prices so its reasonable. Entres go from 260 pesos to 6,000 pesos and up for exotics.
Batac, Ilocos Norte - Herencia Cafe
Ilocano home cooking with a twist. The empanadas are awesome and not as greasy as you would find from the street vendors. They're known for a signature line of "Ilocano" pizza like pakbet pizza, dinuguan pizza, etc. Across the street from Paoay Church.
Vigan, Illocus Sur - Uno Grille. Part of, but located across the street from Grandpa's Inn. Excellent grilled food as well as the Vigan version of Ilocano cooking. Highly recommend a stew they call "pipian." My kapapamgan in-laws thought the cooking was a little austere. (too dry, not enough sauce, etc.) Not a fan of vigan longonissa. (I think the Batac/Laoag longonissa is a lot tastier and generous.)
Cafe Leona - A Vigan mainstay. Sometimes the food is great, sometimes its average. Strangely I found their Italian food better than their local delicacies. Also serve Japanese food. Their bagnet is pretty great though.
Angeles, Pampanga: (these can be found on or near perimeter road outside Clarke, near Friendship Gate.)
C's Italian Restaurant -- pricey, but most people think its worth it. Known for their rolled pizza.
Viva Zapata -- if you think Pancake House makes good tacos, don't go here. The food might be too Mexican authentic for most Filipinos. I've been told they serve the best margarita in the country. Otherwise I can recommend the soft shelled tacos, burritos, chimichangas, fajitas and "Irish" nachos. The bean soup is too authentic for me.
Aling Lucing (at the riles) - best sisig I've ever had. Makes the stuff in Manila look sad.
Armandos Pizza - great toppings, lousy crust.
Bale Dutung - please ask Shootodog
San Fernando, Pampanga:
Jun Jun's - my personal favourite bbq house. Great bbq pork, grilled chicken and sisig.
Holidayland Restaurant - excellent authentic Kapampangan buffet.
Fisherman's Village - same as Holidayland, except they also have an excellent grill. I'm not a fish eater really, but I loved their hito with buro in mustasa.
Everybody's Cafe -- the place to go for exotics like dagang bukid, camarro and butete. They they're also know for their duck adobo and goat caldereta.
Nathaniel's - The Kapampangan versions of Chinese food, especially somai. My favourite place to pick up pasalubong.
Suzi's - sweets and desserts, but also great pancit palabok
Razon's - halo halo and pancit palabok. They show that you don't have to get all fancy and need a lot of ingredients to be good.
I'll leave Metro Manila for another post.
