Default running out of breath and pain on the right side of torso...

Everytime I do focus pads training, I run out of breath and the side of my body begins to hurt. I think it's my liver. Anyone here has any tips on how to improve my stamina and prevent my liver from hurting?

    Thanks!

Where exactly on your right side?
    - Under your short ribs right side or from under the armpit down to hip right side?

Have you had any sparring that hit your right side with significant impact and force?

What is your normal alchoholic consumption?

    What is your normal diet?

    How long do you train?

It means you just need to train harder since you're still not in shape

I learned the hard way that you should never consult non-doctors regarding any medical concern or, worse, leave the problem to guesswork. When I was taken down during a spar, I already felt something wrong in my chest area. When I sparred two (2) days after, I felt bones shifting inside me. I thought it was a rib injury and the symptoms (at least those that are of common knowledge) were present. I had x-rays taken of my ribs, with the mindset that the injury was in my ribs. My orthopedic surgeon discovered by accident that I had a fracture in my scapula (shoulder blade) and only because he looked further, since all my ribs were intact.

Simply put, you can never really solve a problem unless you know what it is in the first place. And you'll never know what the problem is unless and until you consult someone who was trained specifically for that objective. Makati Medical Center, for all the flak it's been getting, has a good roster of doctors who might be able to help you with your concerns.

Hope that helps, dude, and do tell us how it goes.

thesunstreaker is correct. Stuff like that happens when I'm not in good shape or I partied too much during weekends.

I wonder if he would be better of training longer ( low intensities ), instaed of harder ( high intensity ) , if he's out of shape

@jiben: right side of my body, right under my floating ribs. suspect its my liver. probably from too much padwork.

@angst: good advise. but this happens to me only when i get too tired or run out of breath after hard padwork or from running too much.

@thesunstreaker: baka nga. been off the mats a year and half and just recently joined a group who likes to train mma and rbsd.

    thanks for all the replies.

liver? If it's stamina that's causing the problem it's probably a side stitch
re: cardio, it depends w/c fitness book you read
Sakin I prefer extended periods of low intensity training
After a month or 3 , you can switch to the high intensity hardcore stuff

disclaimer - I'm just a lowly newbie sa bjj , though na addict ako sa triathlon for a few years

@doboltap: mukhang stamina-cardio nga ako. matagal din kasi akong nabakante ng training then recently lang nag-join uli sa isang group of enthusiasts. since you used to do triathlon, ano ba maganda pang-develop ng cardio-stamina? btw, i'm turning 40 this year.
