Thinking of trying a vegan diet. Thoughts?
Just something to help out those who don't really know what to do and where to start.
All of us have a limited space in our stomach that needs to be filled. Everyone has a different level of metabolism and processes nourishment differently. The basic idea is to put stuff in there to keep it adequately full, else we go hungry.
Now due to our different anatomical structures we have different goals for ourselves. The basic idea is calories in - calories out. We manipulate the amount we take in but attempt to keep the amount of food the same. So here are just a few basic guidelines I have used on people in the past. Take note that this is for weight management, meaning one has no business here if one does not compete in weight divisions.
First of all, you should be eating regularly around every 2-3 hours, and drinking at least 4 liters of water a day. You should be getting adequate sleep, and training according to your goals. And the most important thing is regularity. That's why I tell everyone to keep an eating and training and sleep log. And everyone should be eating eggs.
TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT
friends: Vegetables, Fruits, Vegetables, Chicken Breast, Seafood.
> When you eat more of these, you have less room to eat all of that other crap you should not be eating. So knock yourself out. Just make sure they're properly prepared (i.e. not fried or in heavy sauce).
TRYING TO GAIN WEIGHT
friends: Peanut Butter, Whole Milk, Beef, Heavy Lifting, and if all else fails, Doughnuts.
> Your aim is to consume more calorie-dense food to maximize intake. You should not be concerned with "keeping your abs" if you are trying to gain mass. You can do that later.
CUTTING WEIGHT (MY WAY)
friends: Chicken Breast, Protein Shakes, Almonds and Walnuts, Interval training, Water, water, and water. And if you absolutely need to satisfy your sweet tooth, Aspartame. And gum.
> You want to minimize your starch consumption and other stuff that spikes your glycogen. You also will be manipulating your sodium intake for a week.

Seriously, i think my metabolism slowed down. Just last year, I lost ten pounds in two weeks following your advice. Now I've been on it for more than a month and all I had was a fluctuation of 1 or 2 pounds.
Question #1 I'm 160 lbs and I stand 5'9" but according to one website I can go up to 170lbs without my BMI calling me fat. is that accurate? #2 My goal is to gain mass and I know the saying "eat big to be big" how many eggs can I consume in a day?
If you possess the gag reflex to stick with it for at least three months, then by all means. Good luck. Mac Danzing is a strict vegan. You're gonna have to eat a **** load of Tofu though.
If that's how you explain "metabolism" then I have the slowest metabolism ever, since I stayed the same weight for maybe six years. Check it out: the less body fat you have, the harder it sticks to you and the more work it takes to strip it off. Now your normal weight and body fat percentage is your body at equilibrium. If you're doing the same things every day without increasing the intensity or modifying your lifestyle, eventually you will settle, and you will have to change something to see any results again. Then it settles again. It's a never-ending process.
Just mix some regular Whey protein with water. Personally, I just drink skim milk (but not when cutting).
BMI is crap. It does not account for body fat percentage. Leave that to the fatties. If BMI were accurate, I would be "Overweight,"
Thiago Alves would be "Severely Overweight,"
and Sean Sherk would be "Obese."
I'm really not sure about how many eggs one may consume a day. I guess it depends on the person. I used to eat 2 whole eggs every single day, and I think I ate like 3 for three months, and never really had any problems with my cholesterol. Some even eat four a day.
